Don’t you love it when these sinfully delectable pictures appear on your Facebook timeline and force you into the kitchen to try out there calorious abomination?
Well, one such picture appeared on my timeline. I made the further mistake of clicking on “see more”. I saw that the recipe was super-easy and I had the ingredients in my fridge.
While the recipe itself was delicious, the recipe was somewhat inaccurate. So, after several attempts at this recipe (many of them at the request of my husband who is officially addicted to this desert), I have finally come up with one that is similar, but better!
1/3 cup of butter
1 cup of milk
1 cup of flour
1 cup of sugar
1 1/2 t baking powder
1/2 t salt
Cream cheese cut into cubes
In a 9×9 pan melt the butter in an oven heated to 350 (approximately 175 Celsius).
In a bowl, mix milk and egg. Add dry ingredients and mix well.
Pour into pan with melted butter.
Sprinkle berries over the batter. Sprinkle cream cheese cubes over the berries
Bake at 350 for approximately 1/2 hour or until top is golden brown.
The batter will rise and envelope the berries and cream cheese.
Remove the pan from the oven and heavily sprinkle powdered sugar over the top.
Slice and serve with ice cream.
