I was inspired by something I saw on Pinterest and I had to give it a try! I loved the idea of having a list of meals, complete with recipe cards and shopping lists, right at your finger tips.
No sitting down every week or month to plan a menu, sorting through recipes, planning a shopping list.
It’s all done ahead of time.
So I tried it.
I sat down and wrote out a 3-month menu plan and shopping list. I paper-clipped all of the recipes to each month’s plan as well, to make it easy to grab and go.
Now I’ll tell you – it’s taken about 2-3 months to work it out. I tried new recipes that no one liked – so I scratched them off and replaced them with new ones we all like.
And I was overwhelmed with the idea of coming up with 90 different meals – so I planned Meal Days
Our 3-month menu looks like this:
Monday – Pita day (there are several variations of pita – and we’ll try them all: meat, potato, fresh cheese, zucchini – you can mix and match, add mushrooms, the sky is the limit)
Tuesday – Soup or Salad
Wednesday – Mexican food
Thursday – Italian food
Friday – Pizza
Saturday – Leftovers (I found I needed to add this day in!)
Sunday – Various meat dishes
On the bottom of the menu I have a place for my shopping list. I went through each recipe and wrote down what I would need to purchase every month to be able to make these meals. So when shopping day rolls around all I have to add are other essentials: toothpaste, toilet paper, etc. This helps to avoid purchasing stuff you’ll never use!
I am totally loving this. I keep revising and revising. So be sure to keep some white-out handy.
