Do you pick a word for the year?
I like the idea of a #oneword because, as opposed to resolutions, it gives me a central focus for all year. It’s not something I can fail at, but it’s an area of my life that I can look back on a see growth in throughout the year.
Last year my word was “Present”. I wanted to be present in every area of my life. I felt that life had been dragging me along with it’s craziness, and I wanted to take control back and be present in the moments I had been missing.
If you look at end of 2014 and 2015’s blog posts, you will see something like a caterpillar turning into a butterfly: there was the discovery that I needed a change, a confession of my perfectionism, a challenge to myself to take control, a battle to get it back, and then my December series that was a declaration of freedom and joy as I felt a release from the pressure and personal expectation that kept me bound to constant whirlwind that led to nowhere.
This year I felt the Lord speak to me “Position”. It almost seemed odd at first, but as I began to think of that word in context with the different areas of my life, I realized that it held tremendous power!
Faith: I alluded to this in my post last Monday: To discover more about who I am in Christ, and position myself to receive all He has for me.
Ministry: Position my heart to serve and be receptive to those I am serving.
Family: Position my priorities properly and learn to be comfortable with where they are (more on that second point later this month)
Marriage: Position myself to be available to my husband and position my heart to be open to his needs.
Motherhood: Position myself to be available to my children and my face so they can see my love and acceptance of them. (this last part was so powerful, I was almost in tears as I wrote it).
Blogging: Position my time to be productive and my priorities to know where I need to focus most.
And to begin positioning my priorities for blogging, I have created this questionnaire. Would you take a moment and fill it out? It will help me tremendously to see if I am really meeting your needs and if some of my ideas for future plans will hit the mark or not.
I absolutely love this post! First of all, because it helps those who are still struggling to grow see that small steps are something to celebrate. Gertrude from My Online Biz Journey shares with us her growth stats for 2015, what she did to get where she is, and what her goals are for the future. There is a ton of takeaway here, if you are looking to grow your blog or home business. I love Gertrude! She and I have connected on and off for a couple of years now, and it has been amazing to see her grow into her obviously gift and calling!
