Last week you all responded so well to the survey!
By the way, its still open if you’d like your voice to be heard. You can find the survey here: Can You Help Me
While some of the responses were what I expected them to be, some of them really surprised me. Additionally, if you subscribe to A Little R & R, you will also receive an email also titled “Can You Help Me?” In this email I ask 5 questions about your quiet time.
If you’ve replied to that email, please know that I keep them in a special folder where I refer to them often when planning my blog posts.
And yes, I do plan my blog posts….most of the time.
Yesterday morning I sat down with a notebook and pen (because I’m old-school that way), looked at the answers to the survey and to the many emails I’ve received regarding quiet time and here’s what I found.
What you said
- 78.4% of you want more material on Bible studies that deal more with books of the Bible and topics
- 74.5% of you want more quiet time tips
- 70.6% of you want to know how to meditate on scripture
- 66.7% of you would like more war room resources and tips for an effective prayer life
When asked what your greatest challenge is to a consistent quiet time most answered that it was time and distractions.
When asked what your greatest hindrance is to a consistent quiet time, most answered distractions.
When asked which areas of a quiet time (Bible reading, prayer, memorization, meditation, sharing with others) most challenged you, the overwhelming response was memorization immediately followed by prayer and sharing with others.
What you’d like to see more are more resources for children and tweens. Many answered that you are your own worst enemy to your quiet time. They don’t know how to get started or carry out a quiet time without being told where to read. Some answered that they are not even quite sure what a quite time is of if they’ve actually hit the mark.
I love these answers!!!
Do you know why? Because it just fills me with so much joy that I get to write more about quiet times!
So here is what you will be seeing from me from now until the end of the year:
In September I’ll be sharing about quiet times and resources for children and tweens.
In October and November I’ll be sharing about what is a quiet time and tips for a successful, fulfilling quiet time so that you leave knowing you’ve met with the King of Kings!
In December I’ll get creative (pray for me, ya’ll!!!) and we’ll make a Bible reading journal and prayer journal together. I know, I have a post about a prayer journal already…but I have some new ideas!
In 2017 we’ll switch course and start delving into some meatier issues: We’ll study books of the Bible, we’ll delve into living a consecrated life, spiritual gifts, marriage and submission (I’ve had a post percolating for about a year on that!), and even into areas of prayer that dig much deeper than I have ever dared to write about.
I am excited about where we’re going for the remainder of 2016 and into 2017.
But what about the 30 Day Prayer Challenges?
Oh – they are not going anywhere any time soon!
I already have topics planned through the end of 2016, and I can’t wait to announce what I’ll be doing with them for 2017. Let’s just say it will be so exciting!
Are you with me?
Did you not have a chance to chime in yet? You can go to the questionnaire, or you can comment below or contact me and let me know what you’d like to see more of at A Little R & R. I love hearing back about this, because I’m here for YOU!
