My mother (95 yrs), just visited me for 3 months. She is a doer! She cleans constantly. She has all my life. You can eat off her floors, her walls, her bathtub—anyplace. You get the picture! Her house shines like the top of the Chrysler Building…still…and while raising me and 3 siblings. I say all that to say: I asked her what did she learn about me while staying with me for 3 months? She said, “you are relaxed”. Hmmmm. The best compliment!! My life is balanced with REST!! My house is picked up with REST! I love my sleep and enjoy slow mornings. I love the Lord and He gives me REST! I have tons of stuff… my elderly mom and two very sick sisters. I run from state to state to take care of people & things. My mom says: you are relaxed. All glory to God!!

What a powerful testimony, Darlene. Thank you so much for sharing that. My tendency is to be the doer. My husband is constantly telling me to slow down, rest, lie down and take a nap — and I’m learning.

Because I can’t say that I have ever looked back and wished I’d have vacuumed instead of spending time with family. Or that I wish I’d have ironed instead of reading my Bible. I don’t think any woman can honestly claim that.

It’s always the opposite. We get to the end of our days and wish we’d have worked less and enjoyed more.

I want to get to the end of my life with no regrets.

And the best time we can ever spend is with Jesus! #2 is with family.

Definitely needed the reminder - thank you! It’s so hard when you’re in corporate as well as it seems like we are just becoming robots on demand and forgetting that we are humans. One day at a time 🙏

Oh friend, that is so true. Our culture makes this so, so hard. It is so anti-rest in every sense. It takes great intention and even sacrifice to make reat possible

Rest is the blessing of God and wise to partake of. Yet keeping a certain day is never commanded under the NEW Testament - because it's BY FAITH that we rest in our Sabbath, JESUS CHRIST. Read Hebrews 4. Keeping or not keeping a day weekly has nothing to do with salvation. This is how the judaizing wolves seduce saved by grace through faith saints back under law keeping. And there's where they are cut off from God, they fall away - due to rejecting Christ's perfect sacrifice alone for their redemption (Galatians 3:1-3; 5:4). When Jesus says "If ye love me keep my commandments", He not saying to keep SATURN-day and we know that because He nor His holy apostles ever once instructed any born again disciple to keep any certain day. Paul warns about this often. See Colossians 2:14-19. Salvation, eternal life is Jesus Christ, not His creation, not a day He made (1 John 5:50-21).

If you go back and read some of my other posts, you'll see that is exactly where I am going with this study. The purpose of my Substack posts is for me to share what I am learning this year while studying what the Bible says about Sabbath. I am taking my followers on a journey through that study - verse by verse.

we are called lazy if we rest, but we do need rest and I feel so much better after quality time spent lounging, resting, remembering how it felt before I was always doing, giving, working. Love this pose. God bless you

Science is showing the dangers of working ourselves to exhaustion - which only proves that the gift God gave us from the very beginning of time was valuable and was meant for our health and wellbeing. We were created to both work and rest….both are equally important. We should never elevate one above the other.

Yes. At first I was so angry that I was so sick, but I finally came to a place where I could love the fact that this was God’s way of trying to get my attention - because I had ignored all the other ways. He is so faithful, even in the hard times.
