Fear is exhausting.
Not just the big, obvious fears.
But the quiet ones that niggle in the back of your mind.
The “what if” thoughts that replay at 2 AM.
The dread that sits heavy in your chest.
The spiraling thoughts that make you feel emotionally drained before the day even begins.
I used to think overcoming fear meant trying harder to “calm down.”
But over time, I realized something:
Fear has to be fought with truth.
Not motivational quotes.
Not distraction.
Not doom-scrolling for answers.
Absolute truth.
There are certain Bible verses I return to again and again when anxiety, fear, or spiritual heaviness start trying to take over my thoughts.
Verses that remind me:
• God is still in control
• Fear is not my master
• Peace is possible
• Christ has already overcome
One of the verses I cling to most is Isaiah 26:3: “You will keep him in perfect peace, whose mind is stayed on You…”
The words “perfect” and “peace” are both “Shalom” in Hebrew.
The verse reads, “You will keep him in shalom shalom whose mind is stayed on You.”
This is shalom to the 2nd power. That is a kind of peace that only God can give.
That verse alone has carried me through some very hard seasons.
I put together a list of 10 powerful Bible verses that help me battle fear and renew my mind when anxiety starts spiraling.
And I included a free printable you can keep in your Bible, prayer journal, or war room.
