For years, I thought understanding my identity in Christ meant simply knowing the right verses.
I could quote them.
I could write them down.
I could even teach them.
But there was still a big disconnect.
Because when different situations came up — rejection, misunderstanding, old insecurities — I didn’t respond like someone who was secure in Christ.
I responded like the person I used to be.
The girl shaped by past wounds.
The girl who still looked for affirmation and approval.
That tension stayed with me for a long time because I didn’t yet understand what it meant to actually live out of the power of my true identity in Christ.
The shift didn’t come from trying harder to believe better things about myself.
It came when I began to understand that my identity in Christ is not something I build — it’s something I walk out.
My identity is something that is already established, secured, and purchased for me by the blood of Jesus.
When I finally came to that realization, it changed the way I related to God, but most of all, it changed the way I live.
