Some seasons of life seem to arrive one wave at a time.
Before you’ve caught your breath from one difficulty...
Another comes.
A health diagnosis.
A strained relationship.
Financial pressure.
An unexpected loss.
You finally feel like you’re finding your footing, and then another wave crashes over you.
Maybe you’ve been there.
I certainly have.
Years ago, my dad described these seasons as “waves of adversity.” I’ve never forgotten that phrase because it perfectly captures what life can sometimes feel like.
One wave after another.
Until you’re tempted to wonder if you’ll ever make it to shore.
What keeps us standing?
When life feels overwhelming, it’s natural to look for something that will make us feel stronger.
A new strategy.
A better plan.
Someone to tell us everything is going to be okay.
But over the years, I’ve learned that my faith doesn’t grow because life becomes easier.
It grows because I keep returning to the same place.
God’s Word.
Not as a quick fix.
Not as a collection of inspirational quotes.
But as the living Word of the God who never changes.
Faith grows when we remember who our Father is
One of the greatest lessons God has been teaching me is that faith isn’t something we manufacture.
It’s the natural response of a heart that is learning to know God more deeply.
The more I understand His character...
His faithfulness...
His promises...
The easier it becomes to trust Him in the middle of the storm.
Faith grows as we remember who our Father is.
Five passages I return to again and again
Whenever life feels heavy, there are a handful of passages I come back to repeatedly.
Jesus’ invitation to pray with confidence.
Paul’s reminder that we walk by faith and not by sight.
God’s encouragement to Joshua to be strong and courageous.
Paul’s declaration that Christ gives us strength in every circumstance.
These aren’t just verses I’ve highlighted in my Bible.
They’ve become anchors for my soul.
A free resource for you
I’ve put together a printable featuring five of the Bible passages that have strengthened my own faith during difficult seasons.
If you’re walking through one of those “waves of adversity” right now, I pray these Scriptures encourage your heart as much as they’ve encouraged mine.
And if you’d like to read the complete Bible study—including why I chose each passage and how each one has shaped my walk with the Lord—you can read it on my blog.

5 Bible Verses to Strengthen Your Faith When Life Is Hard
I pray that wherever you are today, you’ll remember this:
The waves may keep coming.
But your Father is still faithful.
And the One who carried you through every previous storm will faithfully carry you through this one, too.

Amen. Thanks for the encouragement
