For years, I thought I had to learn how to stop worrying.
Then I realized Paul never tells us to stop worrying by trying harder.
He tells us what to do instead.
That simple truth from Philippians completely changed the way I respond to anxiety.
For years, I battled anxiety over many things. Sometimes I couldn’t even explain why I felt anxious.
I just did.
Eventually, the anxiety became so overwhelming that I began having panic attacks. I lost countless nights of sleep, and one time I didn’t eat a single bite of food for three days because I was so consumed with fear.
I knew I couldn’t keep living that way.
There was only one place where I would find lasting victory: God’s Word.
Philippians 4:6–7 became my lifeline.
“Be anxious for nothing, but in everything by prayer and supplication, with thanksgiving, let your requests be made known to God; and the peace of God, which surpasses all understanding, will guard your hearts and minds through Christ Jesus.”
— Philippians 4:6–7
